A couple of weeks ago, we set off on a riverboat adventure aboard the Sternwheeler Rose, the kind of vessel travelers from the 1800’s used to journey the scenic Willamette River. As we cruised along the vibrant, roving waters, we spotted sun-spangled sea lions on their morning hunt for salmon and steelhead. Fishermen prayed for a bite while casting their illusive lures ahead the hungry current. Near the guarded locks, cascading falls dosed a dewy mist upon our spirited, sparkling expressions.
Did you know?
There are two basic ways to mount paddle wheels on a ship; a single wheel on the rear, known as a stern-wheeler, and a paddle wheel on each side, known as a side-wheeler.
